Christopher Taylor is a concert showman of virtuosic excess. At the last solo recital he gave in Washington, in 2009, he played on a special two-manual Steinway for double the effect. Disappointing. I've heard him play a number of times and found him to be an enlightening performer. However, I have never seen a pianist sweat like he does. I mean, literally, sweating like a boxer. Dripping off his nose - and about 10 minutes in. Still happening?
